With the almost complete failure of the South West monsoon here our district and a highly likely failure of the North East monsoon, we have had to seriously restrict our visitor programs. We are currently in the midst of the most severe drought in recent history with all the lakes bone dry, the water table dropping alarmingly and the forest barely hanging on.

The 100-year  historical rainfall average for the area is in the vicinity of 700mm. What we have seen over the last 5 years has been a steady drop in this number. The current year rainfall totals to date are in the vicinity of 250mm.

As things stand, we are not accepting requests for group visits or planning to host events or workshops at our campus for the near term – perhaps until there has been some significant precipitation. We trust you understand and support this.
